Although he was born in Portland, Dr. Dave McDonald (aka Dr. Dave) was raised in Chicago but spent every summer visiting family in Portland, and Seaside, Oregon where he developed a love of the Pacific Northwest. He did his undergraduate studies in Eau Claire, WI and attended veterinary school at the University of Wisconsin- Madison (Go Badgers!). Upon graduation he moved west and joined a mixed animal practice in Goldendale, WA, and then after a few years he moved to Park City, Utah for the opportunity to work and spend his days off skiing for a couple years. Those “couple” of years turned into 30 where he met his wife, Bobbie and they raised their 2 children, both now grown and on their own. For the last 20 years in Park City, he and Bobbie were owners of White Pine Veterinary Clinic which they sold in 2019. They returned to the Pacific Northwest in 2020 and after a stint living on the coast, in 2023 they moved to Brush Prairie where they share their home with Scout a Pomeranian mix and Nala, a Karelian Bear Dog with another Karelian Bear Dog puppy coming in the spring of 2023.

His interests in veterinary medicine include general surgery, oncology and dentistry. Mostly he enjoys the rewards of working with clients to improve their pet’s lives. On his days off Dr Dave is still skiing as well as playing hockey and hiking, backpacking and climbing the volcanos of the PNW.
