Surgery

Surgery is an effective way to treat many serious injuries and disorders. While invasive, surgical procedures remain the backbone of veterinary medicine, delivering unparalleled results to the field of pet healthcare.

East Padden Animal Hospital in Vancouver, WA is proud to offer state-of-the-art surgical facilities and equipment. We continue to utilize innovative surgical techniques and technology to remain on the forefront of veterinary medicine. Our hospital provides a large number of surgical services ranging from standard spaying and neutering to advanced, highly specialized procedures.

We are very excited to share that we now offer speciality surgeries in the following categories:

  • Orthopedic: Specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, orthopedic surgery addresses issues such as fractures, joint injuries, and bone disorders in animals.
  • Oral: Focused on the oral health of your pet, oral surgery encompasses procedures like tooth extractions, jaw surgery, and treatment for oral tumors or infections.
  • Glandular: Targeting the endocrine glands, glandular surgery involves procedures related to the thyroid, adrenal, and other glands to address conditions like hormonal imbalances or tumors.
  • Hernia Repairs: This category involves surgical correction of hernias, where internal organs protrude through weakened muscle walls, and procedures aim to restore normal anatomy and function.
  • Gastrointestinal: Addressing issues within the digestive system, gastrointestinal surgery includes procedures like intestinal blockage removal, tumor excision, and corrections for conditions affecting the stomach and intestines.
  • Urogenital: Focused on the reproductive and urinary systems, urogenital surgery includes spaying, neutering, and procedures for addressing conditions like bladder stones, urinary obstructions, or reproductive organ disorders.
  • Reconstructive: Aimed at restoring normal function and appearance, reconstructive surgery involves procedures to repair defects, injuries, or abnormalities, providing your pet with an improved quality of life.

Patient safety and comfort is our main priority. East Padden Animal Hospital’s experienced anesthetists provide skilled pain management during and after all surgical procedures, ensuring your pet recovers quickly and pain-free.

Our veterinary team educates you throughout the entire process, giving you the tools to make informed decisions regarding your treatment options. We understand surgery is a stressful time for any owner—we are available every step of the way to answer questions and put your mind at ease.

For each surgical patient, we do preoperative lab work, IV fluid therapy, anti-nausea medications, and laser therapy to reduce postoperative swelling. They are continuously monitored by a technician using EKG, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, and esophageal stethoscopes for auscultation, respiratory, and temperature monitoring.  We use the safest injectable and inhalant medications for anesthesia.  They are kept comfortable intraoperatively and postoperatively with pain medications and warming devices…not to mention hugs and kisses!

Although we are not a specialty center and are not staffed overnight, we understand how important it is for you to get the care your pets need as quickly as possible especially when our wonderful specialty, referral and emergency hospitals are at capacity or have a lengthy waitlist. We’re here to help.
